SYNOPSIS
Shot on a cellphone with a budget of $28, "Do I Qualify for Love? {reimagined}" is a short experimental documentary that tells the autobiographical story of award-winning filmmaker Atlas O Phoenix. The film focuses on their past experiences and reflects on a night of abuse they endured from their parents. The story is narrated in real-time, beginning at 17 and concluding with their perspective at age 50. Throughout the film, the existential question about love is explored. Originally shot in 2020, in late 2023, Atlas made significant changes, re-edited the film, and added an original musical score by Simon M. Sperl, bringing a new vision to the project to emphasize the story's deeply personal nature and demand the audience's unwavering attention.
