BIOGRAPHY OF THE DIRECTOR
Axel Johansson was born on the plains of small town industrial Sweden
where he as many of his peers went to work in one of the many factories in town.
At the age of 18 he bought a camera and a computer, destined to make real his
long time repressed fantasy and need; to make films. The film resulted in a oneminute
film about life and death and took him via Swedish National Television to
Amsterdam where he screened the film. Having had his abilities put to the test he
kept on making films and at the age of 24 he moved to San Francisco, California
to study film at the Academy of Art University, earning him a BFA in directing and
screenwriting. Axel’s films have screened and numerous film festivals around the
world, to mention a few; The Cannes film festival, 2014, with his film ”Badger
Bite”, San Francisco Frozen film festival in 2016, earning him a ”Best
experimental film” award. He has been featured in numerous talent groups such
as ”new talented filmmakers” at theatre ”Draken” in Gothenburg, ”featured talent”
at the Bergman week at Fårö, Sweden and in 2015 he was awarded a cultural
scholarship for his filmmaking in the region of Västra Götaland, Sweden. In March 2016, Axel was
selected to participate in Werner Herzog’s own alternative film school, “The Rogue Film School”
which took place in Munich. Axel is currently working on a new film about the death of a father set
in his hometown as well as studying a masters in screenwriting at Alma Löv in Sweden.
